INTERVIEW

What is your greatest extravagance?
SH: Travelling for leisure, just for the sheer joy of it. I travel a lot but about 90% of my trips are for work or family obligations, so it is very rare that I get to travel to a new country and have a completely different experience. Two years ago, I visited Peru for the first time, and wow that was mind and soul expanding. I was completely taken by the culture and the people. I look forward to many more trips like this.

When and where were you happiest?
SH: I am generally a happy person, so it does not take much for me. What I know for sure is that I am always happy when I am surrounded by my family. Some of our early family vacations were spent in Ibiza, so I would consider those times as some of my happiest memories.

What is your most treasured possession?
SH: I am not attached to many material things, but one thing that I always have with me and do buy are scarves in all sizes, shapes, and forms, many of which I have collected from my travels, each one representing a lovely memory.

Who is your fiction hero?
SH: The first thing that jumped in my mind was Cat Woman and because Halle Berry played that role and not for any deeper reasons. Just imagine seeing someone that looked like you as a superhero, that was epic.

What is your motto?
SH: The one that I probably repeat at least once a day, “this too shall pass”. It is interesting because most people use it to help get through a rough patch which is true, but it is also a reminder to be present and enjoy every moment.
