Mary McCartney is a British Photographer, film-maker and author based in London. Entirely self-taught, she is best known for her portrait photography, which is infused with rare moments of unguarded intimacy. She brings a deep personal investment to her work, capturing the chemistry she creates with her subjects and revealing the emotion that imbues the image.
McCartney’s photographs have appeared in exhibitions at leading international institutions including The National Portrait Gallery, London and Fotografiska, Stockholm, and her seminal series, ‘Off Point – A Photographic Study of the Royal Ballet After Hours’ is part of the V&A’s permanent collection. Her editorial work has featured in all the top magazines and she has been a guest editor of National Geographic. McCartney’s commercial projects include the ‘I’m a fan’ campaign with Mandarin Oriental hotels. Outside of photography and filmmaking, McCartney is a committed vegetarian and co-founder of Meat Free Monday and an ambassador for Green Monday. She is the author of two vegetarian cookbooks, a consultant for Linda McCartney Foods and a guest chef on the Food Network’s Kitchen App.
