my morning routine
My mornings are a precious time to connect and ground myself amidst the chaos of the world. I begin each day with an intention for introspection and exploration. I’ve learned to thrive through routine and habits in the morning, leaving room for spontaneity in the evenings.
7:00am: I wake up to feed my two guinea pigs Ebb and Flow. I then proceed to brush my teeth and wash my face with a gentle cleanser by Peach and Lily. I spray a prebiotic and probiotic face mist by Marie Veronique on my face to prep my skin for my Gua Sha ritual. I use Lanshin’s Nephrite Jade Pro Gua Sha tool for lymphatic drainage – working from my neck, jawline, all the way up to my forehead. I apply Femmue’s Lumiere Vitamin C Serum followed by Supergoop’s Unseen Sunscreen to protect my skin from the sun.
I have sensitive skin that reacts negatively if I apply too many products. I’ve learned how to work more with less. I keep the finishing touches simple by applying Kosas’s Air Brow tinted in Medium Chocolate Brown to set my eyebrows. With setting my eyebrows in an upward direction, I find that I do not need much makeup. Finally, I use Utowa’s brilliant eyelash curler which is by far my most favourite discovery over recent years.
7:30am: I take a few quiet moments to sit outside in my garden with a cup of hot water and lemon. In order for me to maintain good sleep at night, I allow my eyes to be exposed to natural sunlight in the morning – this helps set circadian rhythms in place and has been a gamechanger to fight insomnia.
8:00 am: I walk over to my shala to sit in meditation and pranayama (breath awareness) practice. Practicing meditation and pranayama helps me cope with the pandemic and learn to accept the things that are out of my control. Whenever I consciously connect to my breath, I feel grounded. To meditate means to live with an examined life.
8:30am: I roll my Liforme mat to begin my personal yoga asana practice. My personal practice is my daily opportunity for self-discovery and play. It allows me to connect to the present moment and to trust my body as it moves from space to space and from place to place.
9:30am: I set up my production to film classes for my YouTube channel where I offer a variety of full yoga practices to class tutorials and guided pranayama and meditation classes. It is my passion project in which I share my love for yoga with all those who cross my path. Depending on work constraints, I try to film at least one to two classes per day.
10:30 am: After I have moved my body, I prepare to tackle emails and Zoom meetings for the day across my various projects from KSR Ventures. I love what I do and the opportunity to collaborate with entrepreneurs who are aiming to solve the world’s problems in inspiring ways.
