Hunger in America

Food insecurity in America is a serious problem, and this can especially be seen amongst school-aged children over the summer months, when millions of children are not able to access the free meal programs they rely on when at school. (The breakfast and lunch meals they receive are often the only meals they get during the day.) Two charities, Feeding America and No Kid Hungry, work especially hard to address this problem. From mobile meal programs and pick-up services to grocery cards and free meals in rural communities (which are most at-risk for summer food insecurity), they work hard at both tackling root causes of food insecurity and providing real-time solutions for those most at risk. No Kid Hungry has also partnered with Williams-Sonoma to create a variety of cooking utensils and products, the proceeds of which go to supporting the amazing work of No Kid Hungry. There are so many ways we can help, not only by learning more about this issue and donating, but also through volunteering with the local chapters and partners of these amazing charities.
