Born in London (1981), Celina Teague received her MA in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins College in 2007. Prior to this, she studied Fine Art at the Universidad de Bellas Artes in Oaxaca, Mexico, graduating in 2005.
Teague’s paintings take their cue from current affairs - particularly events that affect the wellbeing of the planet, such as bush fires, rainforest destruction, poaching and climate-change-denying politicians. She is equally interested by the dissemination of information in the digital era; how it affects the way we interpret and handle crisis events. She asks whether armchair activism is a dangerously false economy or better than no activism at all.
Teague’s paintings - a series of portraits that throw “undesirable” and lesser-known animals into the foreground - can currently be seen in her exhibition The House is on Fire at XVA Gallery in Dubai. They are situated alongside a second series of works that borrow slogans from young climate change activists such as Greta Turnberg.
Other solo shows include Not for The Kid’s Room (2018), I Think Therefore I # (2015) and In Search of Lost Space (2013) - all at Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery in London -Brave New World Hits a Glitch at Rook and Raven Gallery, London (2013), and My Bunny is Full of Teeth and Other Stories at London's Roa Gallery (2011).

Her work has been shown at various art fairs, and awards and residencies include a 2012 Takt Artist Residency in Berlin and inclusion on the shortlist for the 2013 Beers Lambert Contemporary Visions IV.
Forthcoming is Money & Fairy Tales at Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery, Berlin 2021.
Teague currently lives and works in Portugal.
