INTERVIEW
What is your greatest extravagance?
AH: I love automata – mechanical toys that perform strange activities at the turn of a handle. I will buy anything by Paul Spooner.
When and where were you happiest?
AH: I am never happier than when I am with my wife, Jill Green, on the island of Crete. Swimming in the Aegean is as close to heaven as I’ll get.
What is your most treasured possession?
AH: He’s difficult, willful, disobedient, greedy, unreliable and exasperating but the answer has to be my black Labrador, Chase.
Who is your fiction hero?
AH: This is an easy one. I’ve just finished my third book about him. James Bond!
What is your motto?
AH: Believe in yourself.
A Line to Kill, the third book in the Hawthorne/Horowitz series, is out now.
The second season of Alex Rider will be on Amazon later this year.
